Letter reading by bilinguals as a function of approximation to english and french

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

“The purpose of the present study was to control for the Ss' past experience with English and French in order to determine whether faster reading on French texts was due to past language experience or to the greater redundancy of French. Balanced bilinguals were asked to read zero-, first-, and second-order approximations to English and French in both languages. The dependent variable was the number of letters read in each of five 10-second intervals.”
