A meter interval data analysis of retrocommissioning at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe University of Illinois conducts retrocommissioning (RCx) efforts across campus to reduce building energy consumption at low cost. Retrocommissioning performs the commissioning process for an existing building, ensuring that control systems, mechanical equipment, lighting, and other building elements operate efficiently or as intended. The University of Illinois began to track hourly, high quality meter data starting in 2014. Interval meter data can reflect the performance of a building clearly. Daily profiles constructed from this data show base load and additional demand due to occupancy or external conditions, allowing for easy measurement. Using daily profiles, utility metering data can reveal insights regarding the impact of the RCx program at the university. However, a lack of data limits the scope of this study. This study aims to use the available meter data to measure the performance of retrocommissioning projects at the University of Illinois.
