Goal Involvements, Goal Orientation, and Perceptions of Parent-and Coach-Initiated Motivational Climates Among Youth Sport Participants

With respect to stability of goal involvements, perceptions of parent-initiated motivational climates, and perceptions of coach-initiated climates, at three timepoints (one early season game, one midseason practice, and one late season game), these variables were all stable. Task goal orientation, measured early season and again late season, remained stable across the season, while ego goal orientation (measured at the same timepoints) demonstrated a significant decrease from early to late season.
