Supernova Remnants in the Large Magellanic Cloud

In addition, I have included two specific case studies, comprised of detailed multiwavelength analyses for individual LMC remnants. In one case study I have examined DEM L 316, which appears to consist of two overlapping shells. Using the correlation of optical and X-ray morphologies, the velocity profile, and the magnetic field in the overlapping region area, I have shown that DEM L 316 in fact consists of a pair of colliding remnants. Another case study covered N 11L and N 86, which show apparent breakouts into the surrounding medium. I compared observations at different wavelengths in order to build up a complete picture of the consequences of these breakouts on the remnants, and their implications for the surrounding medium.
