Synthesis and Characterization of Alkyl Tetra-, Tri-, and Triskaidecazirconates

Abstract

dc:description

The ambient temperature hydrolysis product of tetra-n-propyl orthozirconate was identified as [Zr3O](OPrn) 10 by 13C NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Ethanolysis of [Zr3O](OPrn) 10 yielded the ethoxy derivative of the trizirconate which was characterized by 13C NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Reaction of the trizirconates with the parent alcohol resulted in the formation of alcohol adducts which are thought to have structures similar to that reported for {[Hf3O](OEt)10(EtOH)}2.
