Chromatographic, Spectroscopic and Crystallographic Investigations of Chiral Recognition Processes
Abstract
dc:descriptionA number of experiments have been undertaken in order to determine, at the molecular level, the manner in which some of our recently developed low-molecular weight chiral selectors are capable of differentiating analyte enantiomers. When covalently linked to silica, these chiral selectors are capable of affording chromatographic enantioseparations. Series of homologous analytes were prepared and chromatographed on the chiral stationary phase of interest, in order to develop structure-selectivity relationships. Additionally, complexation with the chiral selector was investigated in solution (H NMR) and in the solid state (X-ray crystallography) utilizing soluble selector analogs and the analyte(s) of interest.
