Progress in the Synthesis and Modification of Glass Surfaces Necessary to the Study of Single Molecule Protein Folding and Nanolithography
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe focus of this research was to monitor the folding of a single protein molecule using sp-FRET. In order to accomplish this task, surface modification of a glass coverslip was necessary to prevent non-specific binding. Modification of the surface was accomplished by derivatizing the surface with PEG's and dextrans. Also, the surface was modified using a metal coated AFM tip, resulting in nanolithography of the surface which was observed using confocal microscopy.
