Understanding and Promoting the Development of a Church -School Partnership: A Tale of Two Cultures

Abstract

dc:description

Results reveal that the partnership can be understood as the intersection of two cultures, one focused on garnering resources and the other on developing relationships. Twenty-one factors that facilitate or inhibit the negotiation of these differing perspectives are identified, including those that are shared, and those that are more important to the school or to the church. The present results are discussed in light of factors identified in the existing theoretical and empirical literature, with special attention to previously unidentified variables. Theoretical and practical implications of the results provide information on the development of intraorganizational policies and community relationships more generally.
