Static and Dynamic Analysis of Axially Loaded Wire Ropes

The object of this study is to investigate the static and dynamic behavior of axially loaded wire rope. The longitudinal, torsional, and transverse displacements are determined for a rope which is initially straight in the reference configuration and loaded by an axial force and twisting moment. The static response of wire rope is analyzed using a recently developed technique in which the individual wires in a rope are examined.
