Towards a postmodern theatre

Abstract

dc:description

"The modernist zeal for reaching the Heaven through the Babel Tower has been fragmented. Like the first generation after the disastrous collapse of the Babel Tower, the postmodernists endeavor to trace the presence of God, the Author and the only source of a true meaning of life, by means of the fragments only to find out His absence. The absence of the Supreme Authority guarantees an unlimited weaving of textuality, that is called the intertextuality. This thesis attempts to ""misread"" Antonin Artaud's writings on theatre in the postmodern perspective."
