The wind tunnel is the single most important piece of equipment we have as experimentalists in fluid mechanics. As such, it is important that the test section is user friendly. The Saxton-Fox research group has had a functioning wind tunnel, used to study the behavior of turbulent boundary layers in multiple conditions [1]. The test section of this wind tunnel had many benefits, having been designed by a previous student in the research group [2]. However, its maintenance was challenging, and structural challenges led to sagging over multiple years of use. This thesis describes a new test section design that focuses on structural stability, ease of access, and easy and reliable passage of maintenance knowledge. For maintenance to be possible, detailed knowledge of how the test section was built last is needed. The thesis also describes the design of a suction system, intended to modify the wind tunnel conditions for future experiments. . . .
