Abstract
dc:descriptionCancer emerges through an evolutionary process where somatic mutations accumulate in a cell population. This results in each tumor being unique, and in addition, within each tumor there exists intra-tumor heterogeneity (ITH). In order to explore cancer evolution and ITH, researchers use various omics technologies to sequence tumor biopsies. In this work, we present a platform titled Clone Tree Viz which can aid researchers in visualizing tumor clonal structures through an interactive, web-based platform. The tool helps researchers in better understanding clonal evolution and tumor heterogeneity through rendering evolutionary relationships and displaying both SNV and CNA information on the tool. Ultimately, this webpage has the potential to facilitate deeper insights into cancer biology and inform therapeutic strategies by visualizing tumor evolution. The tool can be used to better visualize data for algorithms which integrate multiple omics measurements within the same tumor from bulk DNA sequencing data, and have the aim of constructing more comprehensive tumor phylogenies for mutations in the genome, allowing a more thorough understanding of cancer evolution. Overall, the goal of Clone Tree Viz is to allow for convenient visualization of clone tree data for a clearer understanding of how SNVs and CNAs interact and affect the evolutionary phylogeny of tumor cells.
