Vertical motions in orographic wintertime clouds have important implications on cloud microphysical processes and large-scale weather modification efforts. This analysis will look at remote sensing and microphysics data from the Seeded and Natural Orographic Wintertime Clouds: the Idaho Experiment (SNOWIE) which took place over the Salmon River Mountains between January and March 2017 and employed a suite of remote sensing and microphysics instrumentation. The purpose of this dissertation is to retrieve and describe the magnitudes and distributions of vertical motions observed over the Salmon River Mountains and their effect on cloud microphysical properties over the terrain.
