Smart jewelry for millennials: Integrating function and aesthetics to meet changing demands

This thesis explores the relationship between functional and aesthetic values in smart and traditional jewelry, identifying new design directions for the high-tech age. A mixed methods approach focuses on Millennials' preferences and daily functional needs. The study finds that consumers' accessory preferences are influenced by functionality, fashion trends, and social norms, with gender fluidity significantly impacting Millennial aesthetic preferences. The integration of aesthetics and functions in smart jewelry design is highlighted to capitalize on untapped potential in the smart jewelry market and satisfy the changing demands of the Millennial generation.
