A Modulated Aeroponics System: A prototype of an automated solution for home growing

Mass producing food faces many issues associated with transportation and storage. A lower quality of produce and the usage of dangerous chemicals amongst other things. Growing food at home also faces it’s own issues. It is laborsome, requires a substantial amount of knowledge to do. It can be expensive to sustain and needs growing mediums such as soil to be replaced regularly. The aim of this project is to design and build a device prototype that addresses these issues by applying the growing methods used in industry in a home system. The device is a modular, automated aeroponics food growing system which was tested by growing microgreens. It ended up being expensive to build compared to more traditional growing setups but has a very low running cost comparatively and can potentially pay for itself within a year. It requires very little work and knowledge to operate. It shows the possibility of growing a substantial amount of food for the floorspace it utilizes and circumvents the need for pesticides and antibiotics.
