Μελέτη του ενδοθηλίου του κερατοειδούς στον άνθρωπο, in vivo, με τον φακό επαφής του Eisner

In the present meditation we studied the changes in the middle of the corneal endothelium by the aging on one hand and by cataract surgery, with or without anterior or posterior changes lens, on the other. The first part includes the examination of 200 individuals (400 eyes) aged from 20-93 years. A gradual decrease of the endothelial cell density was found in the first decades. We observed a significant decrease between 50-60 years. After the age of 60 a gradual decrease of endothelial cell density is also observed. The second part includes the examination of 190 patients who underwent cataract surgery in University Eye Clinic of Ioannina. We set the above in three groups. A) ICCE, B) ICCE+ACIOL and C) ECCE+PCIOL. We compared the percentage of the endothelial cell loss, the operated and non operated eye of every patient. The results suggest that there is a 28,11% end cell loss in (A) 23,11% in (B) and 22,80% in (C) group. We observed a significant increase of pleiomorfism the operated eye in all groups. We believe that the Eisner contact lens gives us useful informations for corneal endothelium.
