ΜΕΛΕΤΗ ΤΗΣ ΕΠΙΔΡΑΣΗΣ ΤΟΥ ΘΕΡΜΙΚΟΥ ΣΟΚ ΣΕ ΜΟΛΥΣΜΕΝΑ ΚΑΙ ΜΕΤΑΣΧΗΜΑΤΙΣΜΕΝΑ ΑΠΟ ΤΟΝΙΟ SV40

THE RECENT OBSERVATION THAT SOME DNA TUMOR VIRUSES INDUCE THE HEAT SHOCK PROTEINS IN THEIR HOST CELLS, WAS THE STIMULUS FOR THE STUDY OF THE ABOVE INDUCTION IN PERMISSIVE AND TRANSFORMED CELLS BY SV40 VIRUS. IT WAS SHOWN THAT PROTEINS OFTHE 70 KD FAMILY ARE INDUCED AFTER HEAT SHOCK (43 C) AND ARSENITE TREATMENT (20-25 MM) BUT THEY WERE ALSO INDUCED AFTER INFECTION OF THE CV1 CELLS WITH SV40 VIRUS. IT WAS ALSO SHOWN THAT THE ABOVE INDUCTION WAS SOMEWHAT DIFFERENT. THE GENES RESPONSIBLE FOR THE INDUCTION OF THE 70 KD FAMILY HEAT SHOCK PROTEINS WERETHE EARLY VIRAL GENES (T-ANTIGENS). THE EXPOSURE OF SV40 VIRUS INFECTED CV1 CELLS TO HEAT SHOCK OR ARSENITE RESULTED IN AN INHIBITION OF THE EARLY AND LATE VIRAL GENE EXPRESSION. THE INHIBITION OF THE LATE VIRAL GENE EXPRESSION WAS SHOWN TO TAKE PLACE AT THE TRANSCRIPTIONAL OR POST - TRANSCRIPTIONAL LEVEL. THE SAME INHIBITION WAS OBSERVED IN THE EXPRESSION OF THE ENDOGENOUS T-ANTIGEN IN TRANSFORMED COS1 CELLS AFTER HEAT SHOCK OR ARSENITE TREATMENT. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE DNA TUMOR VIRUSES BESIDES BEING INDUCERS OF THE HEAT SHOCK PROTEINS ARE THEMSELVES TARGET OF THE SAME PROTEINS.
