Novel insights into the post-translational regulation of an ER localised ubiquitin conjugating enzyme

Ube2J1 is an enzyme that helps cells degrade misfolded proteins at the endoplasmic reticulum. This study shows it is controlled by several signalling pathways, and regulated by previously unidentified mechanisms. Ube2J1 also boosts replication of Vesicular Stomatitis Virus when active. These findings reveal wider roles in stress responses, immunity, and disease.
