Mechanismen des Lumengewinns und der Restenosierung nach koronarer Stentimplantation von Patienten mit Metabolischem Syndrom

The metabolic syndrome is an established risk factor for diabetes mellitus and coronary heart disease. The impact of the metabolic syndrome on acute and long- term results after coronary stent imlpantation, however, is unknown. This systematic examination evaluated 322 patients undergoing coronary stent implantation. Clinical and angiographic follow- up was performed in all patients. In summary, there was no association between the metabolic syndrome and results after stent implantation. This lack of effect, furthermore, was independent of the definition chosen. Finally, definitions including patients with type II diabetes mellitus show a worse long- time outcome as compared to patients without diabetes mellitus.
