The comparability of the WISC-R and WISC-III in a group of children with learning disabilities.

The purpose of the present investigation was to evaluate the test-retest comparability of the WISC-R and WISC-III in a group of children with learning disabilities. Children in the WISC-III group were tested with the WISC-III approximately 1 year following an initial evaluation with the WISC-R. Children in the WISC-R group were tested with the WISC-R twice over the same interval. The WISC-R group exhibited no significant change in IQ scores between trials. In contrast, the WISC-III group was found to have IQ scores on the WISC-III which were 7 to 9 points lower than their corresponding WISC-R scores. Correlations between the WISC-R and WISC-III scores were generally found to be as high as the WISC-R test-retest correlations. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)Dept. of Psychology.
