Abstract
dc:description.abstractA woman’s lifetime risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer is approximately 1 in 8, and it is estimated that over 40,000 women will die from BC in 2017. With advances in molecular profiling, breast cancer has been divided into 5 molecular subtypes (luminal A, luminal B, HER-2 overexpressing, basal-like, and claudin-low) that have distinct genetic aberrations, morphological features, prognoses, and therapeutic responses. Therefore, breast cancer should be treated with subtype specific therapies as these may provide the greatest therapeutic benefit.
