AN INTRODUCTION TO GLOBAL HEALTH AND GLOBAL HEALTH ETHICS: SEVEN TOPICS FOR STUDENTS
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis is a practicum thesis to develop global health curriculum for students. The thesis includes seven articles that provide an introduction to global health and global health ethics. Topics for the articles were developed through research, discussions with current students and the author’s personal experiences in global health. The articles are: (1) Ebola 2014-15: An Introduction to Global Health and Global Health Ethics, (2) Global Health – The Current State of Affairs, (3) A Brief History of Global Health, (4) Health Systems and Treating Tuberculosis, (5) HIV/AIDS and Research in Developing Countries, (6) Global Surgery and Global Health Metrics, and (7) Mental Health and the Cultural Context of Global Health. Each article includes a specific topic in global health, a general concept in healthcare, and an issue in global health ethics, as well as questions for consideration. Articles are designed as a tool to help students become informed participants in global health.
