Clinical Nursing Monitoring of Patients with Complications of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus // Клинично сестринско наблюдение на пациенти с усложнения при Захарен диабет тип 2

The relevance of this thesis is determined by the growing need for the nurse, as part of the multidisciplinary team, to expand her role in independent clinical observation, follow-up, and education of patients with complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The thesis includes theoretical and empirical research. The empirical part of the research was conducted in the Ruse region. It includes a quantitative study using an anonymous survey of 180 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus; a quantitative study using a standardised interview of 70 nurses providing healthcare to patients with diabetes; and a quantitative study using an in-depth interview of 10 endocrinologists. For the experimental part, two research groups were formed: experimental and control, each with 15 patients. A comprehensive toolkit adapted to the characteristics of the studied population was developed and implemented: questionnaires, self-monitoring diaries, a health status monitoring card, and information materials. An author's program, "I control diabetes", was created and tested. It was applied to patients with complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus, included in the experimental group.
