Coronary Artery Pathology in Patients with Peri-implantitis // Патология на коронарните артерии при пациенти с периимплантит
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe thesis is focused on investigating the relationship between peri-implantitis — an inflammatory condition of the peri-implant tissues accompanied by bone resorption — and pathological changes in the coronary arteries. The study aims to evaluate whether patients with peri-implantitis exhibit a higher prevalence and more severe forms of coronary artery disease. Additionally, a comparison was made between coronary artery pathology in patients with peri-implantitis and those with periodontitis. Using clinical and laboratory (paraclinical) methods, including coronary angiography, the degree of coronary atherosclerosis was assessed, along with its potential association with systemic inflammation associated with peri-implantitis. General health status, peri-implant tissue condition, and various laboratory markers were also analysed. The results provide new evidence for the role of oral health in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases and emphasise the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in their prevention and treatment.
