The development of science teacher leadership across a state: a reflection on practice complicated by issues of scale, politics and funding

This dissertation project is in the form of a follow-up study of teacher participants in two professional development programs in the years subsequent to their participation. It is a reflection of practice, written in narrative form, that highlights some of the challenges associated with professional development when issues of scale, politics and funding are involved. Teacher participants were studied in this dissertation using The Teacher Professional Leadership Profile survey and an optional follow up interview protocol. This study explores teacher leadership in science education and the research questions focus on enduring effects from capacity-building professional development efforts.
