Reconfigurable, two-dimensional plasma photonic crystals
Abstract
dc:descriptionPhotonic crystals, composed of arrays of microplasmas, affect the propagation of electromagnetic waves and can act as reconfigurable filters in the GHz-THz spectral regions. Plasma photonic crystals are reconfigurable at electronic speeds. In addition, they rapidly alter the transmission characteristics, relative to photonic crystals fabricated in a solid. This thesis describes the characteristics and performance of photonic crystals based on arrays of microplasma jets.
