The Second Wave of the Russian Avant-Garde: The Thaw Generation and Beyond

In Chapter I, I examine the writings and activities of Nikolai Glazkov (1919--79), who must be considered the single most important avant-garde author of the 1940's. In Chapter II, I discuss various avant-garde groups, as well as independent authors who sprang up at the beginning of the Thaw. I closely investigate the poetic paths of the most prominent representatives of official and unofficial avant-garde poetry, Andrei Voznesenskii and Vsevolod Nekrasov, and their impact on the further development of experimental tradition.
