Rasa in Indian Aesthetics: Interface of Literature and Sculpture
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe qualities of a connoisseur are briefly discussed as this study pertains to the viewer-response theory in art. The philosophical notions of aesthetics as propounded by Abhinavagupta, especially the concepts of sadharanikarana and Brahmaananda Sahodhara, are discussed to explain their relevance to the aesthetics of sculpture. The importance of aesthetics as a topic and the significant contribution of this work to the fields of art, literature, and philosophy are discussed in the concluding section.
