Interactions of Alpha-Synuclein With Phospholipids: Implications for Physiology and Neurodegenerative Disease

Viewed in the context of the literature (reviewed here), this work suggests that synuclein's membrane-based interaction with long-chain polyunsaturated phospholipids may be physiologically relevant to synaptic function, and further, may represent an early event in the development of neurodegenerative disease.
