Sucrose -Mediated Transcriptional Regulation of Proton /Sucrose Symporters in Source Leaves of Sugar Beet and Arabidopsis Thaliana

Taken together, the evidence supports the hypothesis that a sucrose-mediated regulatory pathway common to at least two plant families acts as a key step in regulating assimilate partitioning by modulating phloem loading in response to changing levels of sink demand. Also, symporters that are members of two discovered sucrose transporter families are regulated by osmotic potential in a novel pathway that may be involved plant responses to water stress.
