Cytological and Biochemical Studies of Male Sterility in Two Species of Drosophila
Abstract
dc:descriptionSperm from several alleles of the Drosophila melanogaster mutant ms(3)K81 were examined by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, isoelectric focusing and Western blotting to determine the biochemical basis for sterility. One protein, KRP60, was consistently reduced in sterile males. This protein may play a role in the normal function of the sperm in early development.
