dc:description"Inferred flow feedback was a new concept in which the internal pressure measurements from the programmable valve could be used to calculate a flow through any of the cartridge valves, thus eliminating the need for external feedback devices in the hydraulic system: a ""smart"" valve. Hardware limitations in the prototype prevented successful demonstration of this idea. Data acquisition hardware and software incompatibilities caused a loss of response speed in the control system, and flow forces in the cartridge valves caused problems with flow capacity in the hydraulic system and saturation of control inputs to the cartridge valves. Recommendations for further work were provided."
