dc:description"An examination of the idea of ""tribal music"" in India reveals that although the construction of tribe and/or tribal music may be fruitfully studied, from an analytical standpoint, the notion of a specifically tribal music must be abandoned. Instead a more inclusive understanding of south Asian music may be called for, one which includes the music of India's tribes."
