Environmental Effects on the Reproductive Ecology of a Passerine Bird

I found no differences among habitats in the proportion of feeding and foraging performed by males, and little response to experimental manipulations of food supply and nest predation risk. Males did not differ in their proportion of feeding to male- and female-biased broods, but contributed slightly more to foraging for male-biased broods. A productive environment with relatively high nest predation rates may prevent males from decreasing their parental investment in the current brood.
