Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Levator Veli Palatini Muscle During Speech and Swallowing
Abstract
dc:descriptionResults of these measures were analyzed descriptively and presented in a systematic fashion with regard to parameters of interest obtained at rest, during speech activities, and during the performance of a swallow. The data obtained from this investigation and from future studies will be incorporated into a functional biomechanical model of the human pharynx. Such models will be useful in the development of therapy protocols and to assist surgeons in the plan for reconstructive surgery.
