Studies on Soybean Sudden Death Syndrome and Its Causal Organism Fusarium Solani F. Sp. Glycines

There was no significant interaction between four isolates of F. solani f. sp. glycines and five soybean entries for foliar disease severity ratings. There were no differences in length of tap root lesions, losses in root dry-weight, and vascular stem length discoloration among the five soybean entries. The area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC) value for plant introduction (Pl) 567.374 was lower (P = 0.01) than AUDPC values for Great Lakes 3202 and PI 567.659 under greenhouse conditions. There was a positive correlation (r = 0.94, P = 0.05) between AUDPC values of the five entries inoculated with the fungus and the AUDPC values of cut seedlings immersed in fungal culture filtrate.
