Biocontrol of Rhizoctonia Solani on Soybean With Bacillus Amyloliquefaciens Producing Iturin A

Abstract

dc:description

Three major antifungal compounds produced by strain B94 were purified from the culture filtrate using chromatography techniques including ultrafiltration, SPE, TLC, and HPLC. Amino acid composition analysis showed all the three isolated compounds consist of Asn, Gln, Ser, Pro, and Tyr in a molar ratio of 3:1:1:1:1 in their molecules. FAB MS/MS analysis showed that they belong to iturin A, a group of cyclic lipopeptide antibiotics normally produced by Bacillus subtilis. One compound, with a mass of 1042.5533, was identified as iturin A$\sb2.$ The remaining two compounds are closely related to iturin A$\sb2$, may be iturin A$\sb4$ and A$\sb7,$ respectively. The peptide backbone was opened chemically, and the resulting linear peptide was sequenced using the Edman degradation method. The results are consistent with that of the FAB MS/MS results. This study found that strain B94 of B. amyloliquefaciens produced iturin A.
