Abstract
dc:descriptionIt analyzes how the administrative changes in the church and the political changes in the country in the 1990s affected the church, how the secession of Eritrea brought about the division of the historical church into two, the conflict and ethnic politics engulfing church leaders, the flight of bishops into exile as a result of such conflicts, and how the presence of a de jure patriarch and synod in the country and a de facto patriarch and synod in exile brought the unity of the national church into question.
