Abstract
dc:descriptionPart II. A synthetic protocol for the synthesis of carbohydrate-linker moieties that will allow conjugation of a saccharide to a protein is reported. This approach was demonstrated in the synthesis of the saccharide-linker moieties of the four glucopyranosyl-beta-D-glucopyranosides. The results show that disaccharides with varying glycosidic linkage positions may be functionalized with the aromatic linker by reduction of the anomeric azide group and acylation. With the completed synthesis of the desired glucopyranosyl glucopyranoside-linker moieties, protein conjugation requires the condensation of these hydrazides with a glyoxamide functionalized protein.
