Technetium-Labeled Receptor-Specific Radiopharmaceuticals: Synthesis of oxorhenium(V) Mimics of Steroid Hormones Based on the Integrated Approach

Tetradentate oxorhenium(V) coordination motifs were subsequently investigated as possible modes by which the metal-chelate may be incorporated into a steroid-like structure. A novel amine amide thioether thiol (AATT) chelation paradigm was devised to replace the C and D rings of the steroid with a metal coordination sphere. A tetradentate oxorhenium(V) estradiol mimic was synthesized and exhibited much higher lipophilicity than the bis-bidentate DHT mimic, as well as sufficient stability to be assayed in vitro; however, it demonstrated low binding to the estrogen receptor.
