Toward the Understanding of Intramolecular Energy Transfer
Abstract
dc:descriptionIntramolecular electronic energy transfer is intimately related to vibrational energy transfer in many ways, both in the systems studied and in the computational methods employed. Due to the rapid rise of interest in molecular computing, understanding the more complicated electron transfer problems becomes an important goal. Such theories need preliminary experiments, which requires suitably isolated molecules for study. An STM apparatus, which is suited to measure the electronic characteristics of a system is a useful tool. Individual molecules have recently been identified and deposited selectively on a silicon surface, paving the way for future studies of important test systems.
