Tracking Control and Disturbance Rejection With Applications to Non -Circular Turning for Camshaft Machining

Abstract

dc:description

The above theoretical developments are then applied to the Non-Circular Turning Process (NCTP) for camshaft machining. NCTP is a single-point turning process which produces non-circular shapes using rapid tool actuation. When applied to camshaft machining, NCTP enables the generation of a wide variety of cam profiles from round workpiece by using software electronic cam and can reduce or potentially eliminate the amount of cam lobe grinding. Experimental investigation of turning steel camshaft shows that camshafts machined by the NCTP can meet industrial standard.
