No discernible difference was seen between exciplex and pentanone tracers in atmospheric conditions and both gave good agreement with the PDA data. The PDA typically reported a wider spray because had to record for a much longer time to pick up enough droplets, increasing the chances of picking up outlying droplets that would not be seen in the much faster PDS imaging. PDS generally showed slightly larger SMD where the spray cone was. This was because PDS was not biased towards the more statistically likely smaller droplets. (Abstract shortened by UMI.).
