Failure Modes of Asperities in Rock Discontinuities

Abstract

dc:description

This work has proven the significant role of tensile failure in fracture process of asperities under direct shear loading. The result of this work can be combined with future research to develop a more meaningful relationship between the peak shear strength of the rock joints and the applied normal stress.
