An Approach to Using Labile Soil Nitrogen Measurements for Calibration of the Dssat-Century Agroecosystem Model for Site-Specific Nitrogen Fertilizer Management in Illinois, Unites States
Abstract
dc:descriptionFinally, the DSSAT-CENTURY was employed to investigate whether it was possible to develop relationships between the modeled variables and soil N fractions as the ISNT. If such relationships can be identified, it should be possible to use site-specific measurements of soil N fractions to better predict crop responses to fertilizer applications. Although it was possible to obtain reasonably good fits to N response trials, it became clearly that further calibration of leaching and nitrification/denitrification must be accomplished before it becomes practical to predict N response to fertilizer additions.
