Structure and Dynamics of Confined Molecules
Abstract
dc:descriptionDielectric spectroscopy was employed within a SFA in order to investigate confinement effects on the dynamics of liquid crystal thin films. No shift upon confinement was observed for the molecular tumbling and flip motions in the nematic state. However, an interesting difference was observed as a function of film thickness for a much slower relaxation peak that was assigned to the mobility of trace ions within the 5CB samples.
