The Role of Contrast in Nasal Harmony

By providing a direct characterization of contrast preservation, the Categorization Model allows for a more unified account of nasal harmony resistance. While not ruling out neutralization altogether, this dissertation argues that were nasal harmony allowed to neutralize contrast, the destructive impact on contrastive systems would be devastating.
