A Composite Theory and Practical Model of Forced Displacement

dc:description"The second contribution is that composite theory and computational model will inform us on a key theoretical weaknesses in existing displacement literature. As the ultimate goal of the computational model is forecasting, the theory of forced displacement represents an improvement on existing theoretical models and empirical analyses, the latter I argue are roughly congruent with the former despite a mixture of theoretical misspecification and due in part to the relegation of the complexity involved to noise. Throughout the following Chapters, I will highlight quite a few ""aberrant"" patterns of displacement, some of which are among the most devastatingly massive displacements of human beings recorded. If the end-goal is to create a computational tool for aid providers and policy makers, there cannot be such a large number of aberrant flight patterns relative to existing models. There is far too much ""error"" in existing studies given what those errors mean in reality, which is the direct result of an overly-simplified ontology of displacement phenomena in general."
