Improving the Accuracy of Item Response Theory Parameter Estimates Through Simultaneous Estimation and Incorporation of Ancillary Variables

Abstract

dc:description

Finally, several practical considerations are also discussed. The most notable is the appropriateness of including ancillary information in reporting ability estimates. To address sufficiently the concerns and reservations surrounding this issue, theoretical underpinnings should be further expounded, and empirical evidence should be collected to show that the use and interpretation of ability estimates obtained via this method are valid and appropriate.
