Backward Adaptive Motion Representation and Video Coding
Abstract
dc:descriptionNext, we consider the design of signal-adapted subband filter banks to be incorporated into our wavelet video coder, for the purpose of further improving compression efficiency, and for protection against channel errors in practical video communication. Our designs are formulated as constrained optimization problems under a number of system constraints, such as linear phase, orthonormality, and information redundancy, etc, and provide a family of solutions that offer a successive tradeoff between various requirements. The optimally designed filter banks are applied to an appropriate stochastic model of video signals, and experimental results confirm the effectiveness of our design.
